Andrew Murphy is a minister in the Hinckley Circuit in Leicestershire; living in the friendly village of Barwell and looking after four chapels. He is married to Emily, and they are parents to their beautiful daughter Phoebe. Andy was born in Consett, County Durham, and felt a strong call to ministry in 2001 while at York University studying chemistry. Following and testing that call led him to Ponteland in Newcastle as a lay worker, and then on to the Wesley Study Centre in Durham. Being a newish father, he doesn’t have time for much else these days, but still enjoys comedy, gardening, writing, the music of Queen and Meat Loaf, and has a deep-rooted passion for Newcastle United. He occasionally writes hymns, including six published in Singing the Faith and on Singing the Faith Plus.
“Methodists have always been singing their faith – and that’s great,” Andy says – “but the challenge is to live it too - and that’s when we’ll see the world change it’s tune!”
