Education Sunday

Education Sunday is a national day of prayer and celebration for everyone involved in the world of education. For some years Education Sunday has been celebrated on the ninth Sunday before Easter. From 2016 the celebration is being moved to September in order to coincide with the start of the school year.

Churches that wish to keep Education Sunday in January 2016 are invited to use resources from previous years. You can also make use of hymns suggested for Education Sunday 2015 – though that year’s theme drew on the Festival of Candlemas, which this year occurs a fortnight later.

A new suite of resources, produced by Churches Together in England**, is planned for September 2016.

** The CTE resources are appropriate for use in Scotland, also, where a different education system exists. The historic links between education for all and the Scottish Reformation are outlined here.
