The Revd Phillip Poyner notes:

The rocky cliff at Caesarea Philippi is one of the principal sources of the River Jordan, with water gushing at 20 cubic metres per second (Murphy O’Connor). Does this not suggest something important about the church built by Jesus? This church provides from its foundation rock a reliable and abundant follow of life-giving water to refresh and nourish all who draw from it – see StF 748. (It also invites a reappraisal of Peter as a tough, unbending leader?)     see details / comment
